WebJan 27, 2014 · You can set it at the 4-cylinder setting but you'll have to half your reading on the tach scale. Example: Your engine is running at 1800 rpm, your tach will read 3600. Not sure what good the dwell setting would do you as that was for setting the points on a distributor of an automotive engine, or gas tractor. So, jump right back in there, even though they might not be the best points in the world, and "practice" setting the points. It's sort of a PITA on the 6 cylinders, (ya just can't see anything while you're doing it).
